Use the directory to ask better questions
Start with the required workflow, then compare the exact product family, version and supported components. The descriptions identify different approaches, not exclusive advantages. A brand can offer several architectures. Confirm current availability, lifecycle status, procurement eligibility, support coverage and integrations with the manufacturer before specifying equipment.
Each manufacturer name links to an official product or support reference. Manufacturers supply equipment; platform providers supply management software or services. Neither role automatically identifies the company responsible for your installation or monitoring.

Compare ownership and provider dependence
Proprietary does not automatically mean unsuitable, and an open interface does not guarantee portability. Require written answers: Who owns the primary account? Who can program the system? Can another qualified provider obtain tools and support? What stops at subscription expiry? Can you export events, recordings, users and configuration? What equipment can be reused? What fees apply to transfer or cancellation?
Distinguish a manufacturer restriction from a dealer contract or a customer configuration. Do not infer that a particular company locks in every customer. Obtain the actual agreement and demonstrate the transition process.
Choose for the property, then plan the lifecycle
Use the project brief to record acceptance tasks and the cloud planning guide to compare continuity and account responsibilities. Budget for licenses, batteries, storage, communications, firmware support, training and eventual replacement. Keep a model/version inventory and review support notices before expansion.
